Franklin Energy Sharing Pilot

The Franklin energy sharing pilot was initiated as a collaboration between Ara Ake, Counties Energy and Climate Connect Aotearoa in South Auckland.

The pilot explores off-market peer-to-peer electricity trading. It will enable Counties Energy to share energy from solar panels and a community-scale battery with charitable organisations in the Franklin community.

This was the second pilot addressing the barriers to energy sharing embedded in New Zealand electricity regulation that Briony got off the ground during her career at Ara Ake. She once again supported pilot participants to obtain regulatory exemptions from the Electricity Authority.
